MAA International was established on September 22nd, 1968 in Kuala Lumpur. In 1969, MAA was listed in the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange and was categorized as a blue chip share, Today it is known as one of the largest insurance companies in Malaysia, and offers a range of insurance solutions ranging from individual to group insurance products. There are now branches set up in the Phillipines, Indonesia, Thailand and Myanmar, with plans of further expansion to Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, China and Middle East.

MAA Life first made its presence known in Indonesia on September the 11th, 1998 providing technical management assistance. In the year 2001, PT. MAA Life was officially recognised as a joint venture life insurance company. With its strong belief in providing sound financial security to our customers, MAA Life is committed to being one of the leading life insurance companies in Indonesia and to delivering the highest degree of excellence and quality services to all our customers. In 2004, MAA Life received "The Best Syariah Insurance Award"  by MUI. 

In order to empower the Ummah Economy through Syariah-based Life Insurance Program, MAA Life Assurance has developed a Syariah Division, establish on September 1st, 2000. The foundation of our syariah products comply with the principle of Syariah (QS:5:90 and QS:2:275-276). It must not contain the element of gharar (uncertainty), maysir (gambling), riba (interest) and the other ways which condones ma'shiyat.

Recenly, PT. MAA Life has a branch in Medan, and 7 representative offices situated in Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Batam, Bandung, Pekanbaru and Pontianak. To this day, MAA Life has an agency force over then 1000.
